As the election heats up, the Arts in the California Governor’s Race campaign wants to make sure that the arts and its positive impact on the California economy is understood by both the candidates and the public.
California has fallen to 50th nationwide in per-capita funding for the arts and cultural policy initiatives. Yet, California’s creative sector supports 110,840 arts-related businesses–employing more than 438,912 Californians. The arts are integral to the success of California’s economy. In times like these, we need to make sure that the arts receives the attention it deserves on behalf of our students, communities, and state.
As supporters, please take a minute to send an email to Jerry Brown and/or Meg Whitman to encourage each candidate to support the arts by making a public statement and/or release his arts policy.
